Professional Reflective Occupational Practice (PROP)

Fully Funded PROP Sessions

In our professional roles we often need to show emotional and mental strength whilst caring for our patients which can sometimes be in the most traumatic of circumstances. There will be times when we are providing support through a trauma such as delivering a stillborn baby or caring for grieving parents whose baby is dying. These sorts of situations are very likely to impact on even the most experienced of us. After all we are human too.

At Abigail’s Footsteps we recognise the impact that your work can have on you both mentally and physically.

Supporting parents as they experience the devastating loss of their baby, be it before, during, or shortly after birth presents a particular challenge to staff.

We offer up to 6 funded sessions designed to help you provide a high standard of individualised, compassionate care but supporting you to navigate your own feelings and reactions to the loss.

Feedback from healthcare professionals who have accessed our supervision…

Bereavement care is one of the most challenging roles we provide. It is essential that maternity staff are equipped on both a practical and emotional level in order to support families following the loss of their baby during pregnancy, at birth, or very soon after.
I hope access to independent supervision sessions, provided through Abigail’s Footsteps, will become an integral part of our departments aim to ensure the mental wellbeing of all our staff.”
