Thank you for your interest in fundraising to donate an Abi Cooling Cot, to provide families more time to say goodbye and create lasting memories with their baby. Before you start to fundraise please complete registration form and read FAQs.
The Abi Cooling Cot is a cold cot produced by Abigail’s Footsteps in partnership with The Bond Group. Abi Cooling Cots are designed to allow bereaved parents to spend a larger amount of time with their baby in order to grieve and say goodbye as a family. Our cots are a hard case unit not suitable for taking home and different from the Cuddle Cot design.
We ask donors to raise a total of £3,000 to provide an Abi Cooling Cot to a workplace in need, this might be a hospital, children’s hospice or funeral directors. The full amount raised will cover the cot manufacturing, courier costs to mainland UK* (which includes England, Scotland and Wales), administration, a professionally made pack of cot liners and a memory plaque for the cot.
*Additional courier costs and any incurred taxes will apply to the final costs.
No, the Gift Aid is not included, for the following reasons:
- Not Always Guaranteed: Gift Aid can only be claimed if the donor is a UK taxpayer and has paid enough tax to cover the amount in that financial year.
- Retrospective Processing: Gift Aid claims can sometimes be processed retrospectively, but only within certain time limits set by HMRC.
- Ineligibility Rules: Donors who do not meet the eligibility criteria, such as not being a UK taxpayer or not having paid sufficient tax, cannot have Gift Aid claimed on their donation.
- Administrative Costs: There may be administrative costs involved in processing Gift Aid claims, which could impact the overall funds received by the charity.
We can give you lots of ideas if you would like to arrange your own events and supply you with any branded materials you require, such as; leaflets about the support we provide, collection buckets, collections tins, banners, t-shirts, etc. Request your fundraising pack from our Fundraising Team.
Our preferred online platform for fundraising, towards an Abi Cooling Cot is JustGiving. Using this campaign page it’s easy to set up your own page using the orange ‘Start Fundraising’ button.
If you’d rather collect the entire donation amount before transferring it to the charity’s bank account, we can share those details with you once your fundraising is complete. Be assured all funds transferred are restricted for the purchase of your donation.
We understand that you may have a preference of where you would like your Abi Cooling Cot donated and where possible we welcome you to choose a location. Our Abi Cooling Cot & Family Liaison Coordinator will work closely with you and professionals to best place your donation.
We always do our best to find a mutually agreeable location for your donation, your funds will be restricted until a location can be agreed upon.
You have the option to personalise your plaque with wording of up to four lines. If you need inspiration, examples from other plaques can be provided to help you gauge the available space. Typically, people include phrases such as ‘Donated in loving memory of [Full name of your baby] [Date of birth]’ followed by a line or two from a poem or a meaningful quote.
When your Abi Cooling Cot is delivered, you’ll receive a heart shaped piece cut from the memorial plaque of your donation as a keepsake. We hope it becomes a cherished reminder of your love and the positive impact your dedication has made in honour of your baby.
Abi Cooling Cots are made to order, once your fundraising target has been met and we receive the full £3,000 and a location site is agreed upon, your order will be placed. Abi Cooling Cots can take approximately 8 weeks to be made and delivered. Sometimes this can be longer, depending on availability of parts and scheduling.
Once your donation is delivered our Abi Cooling Cot & Family Liaison Coordinator will be in contact to confirm this with you and share the best contact email address for your location to liaise directly to agree a mutually convenient date to attend an official handover should you wish to arrange a visit.
Should you choose to visit your donation and if it feels appropriate to do so, please do share with the team any photos you may take from your visit, we love to see our Abi Cooling Cots in their forever home knowing the positive difference they make to families.
