We were privileged to have this fully funded study day by Abigail’s Footsteps. We were all captivated by the incredible knowledge shared with us. This newfound wisdom will undoubtedly empower us to confidently care for grieving parents and provide them with the support they truly need during such a challenging time. I encourage all student midwives to embrace these training sessions as we strive to enhance the care we offer to our women and their families.

Our bereavement training is enhanced with two training films, The Deafening Silence and Say My Baby’s Name; Pregnancy after Loss.

Our renowned film The Deafening Silence has been seen in 179 countries and was awarded two internationally recognised awards.

The film has received over 500,000 views on YouTube, awarded two Gold IVCA (International Visual Communications Association) Awards for ‘Best Charity and not for Profit Communication’ and the ‘Best Drama’. It was also selected by the BFI for permanent preservation in its archive. The entire drama takes place in a hospital where the parents receive the devastating news that their baby has died and the mother needs to give birth.

Say My Baby’s Name supports professionals to improve practice and ensure families feel seen, heard and cared for during the most difficult of times.

The film tells the story of a mother’s psychological struggle to embrace the birth of her second child, following the death of her first. The film aims to build on the success of the first film and help professionals to reflect on their interactions with mother’s returning for their second child following a bereavement.

We are immensely proud of The Deafening Silence and everything it has achieved. We created a beautiful legacy for our daughter Abigail, which has helped train midwives around the world, as well as help families have a better understanding about stillbirth. We knew without doubt there was a need for a second film and are grateful to everyone that has made this possible. We hope Say My Baby’s Name goes on to have an even greater impact and helps enhance our bereavement training programme.
